Before you can begin using Absoft Pro Fortran on your macOS Monterey, Big Sur, Catalina, Mojave, High Sierra or Sierra system, you will need to install some additional command line development tools from Apple's Xcode development kit. Installing these Xcode command line tools is accomplished with the following steps:
1) Launch Apple's Terminal program from the Applications/Utilities folder
2) Enter xcode-select --install and press the return key
3) When the xcode-select dialog appears, choose "Install" to begin installation
As an alternative, you can simply install the full Xcode application from Apple's App Store. If you choose to install the full Xcode application, you must run it at least one time and agree to the XCode license before you can build programs with Absoft Pro Fortran. If you do not do this, you will get an error during the Pro Fortran build process. To resolve the error, run the Xcode application one time and agree to the Apple license.
Note: the complete Xcode application is not required for Absoft Pro Fortran.
