ethernet programming
« on: July 09, 2012, 06:37:16 PM »
I need to communicate with a PC from a Mac OS X system over an ethernet connection. The PC side is already written. It sends and receives ascii command strings.

Are there a Fortran callable routines somewhere that will help with the OS X side, e.g., to create a socket and read and write to it?

Thank you.
Jon

Everything you want will be in the system C libraries. These can be called directly from Fortran. Just turn off the trailing underscore name decoration and leave case folding to lower case for external procedures.

Thank you for the information. I'm having trouble finding documentation on what routines to use and how to link the library, but now I at least have an idea where to start.
